More support for the Hausers

I support Colleen and her son 100%. [MPR Your Voice Commentary: I support Colleen Hauser] Having watched my 11 year-old daughter, Amara Rose Hatton, go through seven months of hell on chemo. Had I known then what I know now she would not have been on it.

Doctors and nurses who only tell half truths about chemotherapy should not be allowed to practice medicine. I was told there was a "90% cure" rate. I was never told that if there was one complication that 90% drops to 10%.

Her care was marginal at best, as she lost her eyesight the medical staff thought she was "overreacting" only to find out later she had a stroke related to the chemo. She could have had 5 or 6 months of quality life, instead she had 7 months of torture.

I can only say run for your son's life and let him enjoy what time he has and treasure every moment.

Gov. Pawlenty's veto of the motor-voterbill

I read in disbelief that the Governor vetoed this bill. [MPR News: Pawlenty vetoes motor-voter bill] Given all the rhetoric from some groups on "voter fraud" and need for voter ID's, this bill had feasible and logical procedures to reduce some specific ambiguities in voter registration lists and methods.

In the aftermath of the 2008 U.S. Senate race, the people of Minnesota have expressed a desire to implement many improvements in our election system. However, that change is being blocked from the top. Once again, Tim Pawlenty is inflexible, capricious and arbitrary. But then, it makes perfect sense, since he is not interested in improving our election administration nor in making it easier for the citizens of Minnesota to vote. Minnesotans deserve a genuine public servant who will act in the best interests of the people-not one who adheres to a radical partisian ideology.
