Volunteer

We'll help you explore a variety of volunteer opportunities that match your availability, skills, and interests. We use volunteer assistance in several different departments, including Development, Marketing and Programming. Some of the activities occur at regular intervals throughout the year, some may be one-time only, and still others are available weekly.

Many activities happen at our downtown St. Paul headquarters at 7th Street and Cedar. Others will be located at our live remote broadcast or special-event sites, which have included Mall of America, the Minnesota Zoo, Lake Harriet, Lake Minnetonka and Harriet Island.

Why volunteer for MPR?
Your contribution of volunteer hours helps support the diverse programming and services you enjoy at MPR. Enjoy the camaraderie of other MPR contributors while you work alongside staff and other volunteers. Maybe you'll even meet your favorite on-air hosts. We'll provide free parking at the Marshall Fields' ramp and free entrance to the events for which you are volunteering.

What will I be doing?
Here are some general job descriptions:

• Administrative: Use your office skills and computer skills to assist with word processing, data entry, updating membership records, telephoning, preparing mailings and media kits, and special projects.
• Special Events: Assist with live remote broadcasts, member appreciation events, the MPR Open House, the Minnesota State Fair and marketing events by being an ambassador for MPR. Help set up and decorate, greet guests who stop by the MPR booth, distribute information and goodies, manage refreshments, inflate balloons and encourage guests to enter drawings and contests.
• Usher at the Fitzgerald Theater: Ushers have the opportunity to see exciting events and concerts at the Fitzgerald Theater free of charge. If you would like more information please call the Usher Line at 651-290-1227 and leave your name, address and phone number. You will receive a post card inviting you to the next available orientation session at the Theater.
