The planes of Northwest Airlines

Minnesota Public Radio
May 31, 2007

Northwest Airlines has revealed plans to upgrade its fleet and increase flying. Northwest CEO Doug Steenland is especially bullish about the 18 Boeing 787 Dreamliners that Northwest will acquire starting next year. "The arrival next year of the Dreamliner will be a game-changing experience for Northwest and the industry," Steenland said. "Our customers will be the first in North America to know this and to know that NWA is once again a pioneer in the industry." But Northwest is also acquiring more Airbus A330s, and dozens of 76-seat aircraft. Going away are venerable DC-10s and DC-9s and Avro RJ85s.
