Minnesota has been a leader in medical technology for decades. Local companies including Medtronic, St. Jude Medical, Guidant and 3M were pioneers in biobusiness long before it became a national focus for economic development.

This newsroom briefing will bring together biobusiness leaders to assess the strengths and weaknesses of Minnesota's medical technology sector and discuss new developments in the biotech industry.

Participants will include Dale Wahlstrom, recently retired Vice President from Medtronic's Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management Ventures, and Dr. Eric Wieben, Director of Genomics Research at Mayo Clinic. Wahlstrom and Wieben will present the findings of a recent statewide assessment of the Minnesota medical industry commissioned by the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota.

Participants in newsroom briefings including MPR journalists, staff and invited guests.
