The MN Report Card Summit

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006
The UBS Forum at Minnesota Public Radio

A group of regional leaders gathered in The UBS Forum to tackle an important challenge: developing a universal set of indicators to judge our successes and failures as a state.

The summit focused on how and if this initiative could center significant public attention on critical indicators for regional success, how it could elevate the level of decision-making and public policy discussion, and how it could stimulate community action in a nonpartisan, credible way. The group is challenging a range of public leaders to propose what indicators should (and should not) be included in a universally accepted document.

    Presenters included:
  • Mary Brainerd, CEO, HealthPartners
  • Kathy Tunheim, CEO, Tunheim Partners
  • Paul Mattessich, Executive Director, Wilder Research
  • Rob Grunewald, Minneapolis Federal Reserve
  • Sean Kershaw, Citizen's League
  • Irv Weiser, Chairman, RBC Dain Rauscher

This meeting connects to a year-long effort undertaken by the Itasca Project, the Wilder Foundation and a host of other local foundations and corporations.

Participating Organizations: The Itasca Project and the Wilder Foundation with the support of the Bush Foundation; Greater Twin Cities United Way; The McKnight Foundation; Minneapolis Foundation; The Saint Paul Foundation; 3M Foundation; St. Paul Travelers Foundation; and Wells Fargo Foundation. Other organizations invited to participate include the Citizens League, the Great North Alliance, and the Humphrey Institute.

The Minnesota Agenda Series: The UBS Forum is hosting a series of events that address issues crucial to Minnesota's competitive future. These retreats will bring together elected officials, business leaders, related organizations, interest groups, members of the PIJ network, the general public, and MPR journalists to dig into an issue, deeply explore its implications, and generate ideas regarding future action.
