Ask MPR Mailbag
October 30, 2006Would you broadcast the program 'World Cafe' in the future?
Is there any chance MPR would broadcast the program 'World Cafe' in the future? I note that only Grand Rapids Public Radio does this currently.
While in Michigan for a three year assignment, I learned of it and it became (for me) the best radio show I have heard for contemporary music. It seems to me this would be a good bookend for American Routes (my other favorite radio music program) now broadcast on 91.1.
Thanks for your consideration.

Dear Dale, "World Cafe" is a popular and long-running music show, produced by WXPN in Philadelphia and distributed by National Public Radio. It's a genre-jumping mix of folk, blues, rock and country music. To my knowledge there are no plans to add it to our schedule at this time, but I will make sure the program director sees your suggestion. Thanks for writing in.
