5th District: Gail Dorfman

Gail Dorman announced her candidacy for the 5th District seat in Congress in a news release on March 20, 2006. In her release she said she "has a proven track record of turning progressive values into action - working in partnership for better housing, balanced transportation, health care access, social and economic justice, and safe, vibrant communities." Dorfman is a Hennepin County commissioner. She was first elected to the City Council and then as mayor of St. Louis Park. She also spent 10 years in Washington as a congressional staff member and served in the Washington office of Massachusetts Gov. Mike Dukakis.
