Who is Valerie Argonbright(Sp?) and why does she materialize just at pledge times? Is she kept in a small cubbyhole at the station, like a fire extinguisher, and only used for emergencies? It's a puzzlement.

Dear John,
Judging from her infrequent on-air appearances, listeners may indeed think that Valerie Arganbright lives in a small glass case labeled "Break In Case of Emergency".
In fact, she is currently our Senior Director of Membership, responsible for every member dollar raised during the course of the year.
Valerie has been heard on the air during our member drives since 1991. She hails from Iowa, is a big fan of Bonnie Raitt, and has a dog named Ruby.
