Artistic Statement

I chose this piece because I think it beautifully portrays the various colors and sounds you can create on a cello. The quick theme sounds playful and light, like a butterfly (Papillon is French for butterfly. Fitting, isn't it?). The more lyrical line in the slower section is absolutely gorgeous, and melodies like this are a wonderful reminder of why I fell in love with this instrument in the first place.
