3 Legged Race Productions—3 Legged Race is a non-profit performing arts producer poised at the crossroads of theatrical form (including dance, puppetry, performance art, and circus arts). It attempts to cultivate emerging artistic voices by enabling artists to stretck their creative muscles and tread beyond their comfort zones. It strives to build an environment where risks are possible for artists and audiences alike, creating multi-faceted and illuminative experiences relevent to the changing aesthetic of the modern world.

15 Head: A Theatre Lab—15 Head was founded in 1995 as a professional, non-profit, experimental theatre lab. The company's productions are marked by a signature style featuring highly physical movement, music, and visually dynamic design. Housed at the Red Eye Theater, 15 Head seeks to combine the best elements of theatre, dance, and music performance to create boldly experimental works which touch the viewers' emotions, intellect, and senses.

Actors' Theater of Minnesota—The mission of the Actors' Theater of Minnesota is to bring new professional theater, through production or promotion, to Minnesota communities that do not otherwise have access to a given style of theater and at a cost that is competitive within a given community. The Actors' Theater of Minnesota (ATM) was started by a group of commercial actors as Minneapolis Actors Theater in 1998. The Actors' Theater of Minnesota seeks out off-Broadway style productions that currently do not tour through the Twin Cities and attempts to serve as a local producer/facilitator for such shows.

Brave New Workshop—The Brave New Workshop is the longest running, satirical comedy theatre in the country. It's Brave New Institute offers improvisation and acting classes.

Bryant Lake Bowl—An intimate cabaret theater that presents the best works of the Minnesota Fringe Festival as well as local and national musicians, juggling acts, and more, all within a few feet from the bowling lanes.

Central Minnesota Community Theatre—The Central Minnesota Community Theatre was established in August 2001 and is the largest performing arts organization in Central Minnesota. The Central Minnesota Children's Theater, County Stearns Theatrical Company, and The Troupe Theatre merged to form CMCT. Its mission is to create an environment where adults and children can learn and demonstrate theatrical skills and abilities, and to provide affordable and artistically high quality theatrical entertainment for the Central MN community.

Children's Theatre Company—Founded in 1965, the Children's Theatre Company is rooted in the belief that early experiences with the arts will have a profoundly positive effect on the development of children and, ultimately, their participation in the life of their communities.

Colder by the Lake—Colder by the Lake is a comedy troupe that writes, produces and adapts its own material. Entering into its 20th year, Colder has produced Shakespeare, Dickens, live radio shows, an opera based on the adventures of Daniel Greysolon Sieur d'Luth, humor and music revues, Greek comedy and a funny web-site.

Commonweal Theatre Company—The Commonweal Theatre Company is a nonprofit, professional theatre company in Lanesboro dedicated to delighting and challenging the audiences of its region.

Directors Theater—The Directors Theater is an institution dedicated to creating passionate theater through directors' choices. Here some of the Twin Cities' finest directorial talents may present works of their own choosing.

Duluth Playhouse—Established in 1914, the Duluth Playhouse continues to entertain Northlanders even as it approaches 90.

Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre—The Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT) was founded in the spring of 1946 with three performances of My Sister Eileen at Moorhead Junior High School. For the next twenty years, the theatre used numerous schools and auditoriums as performance spaces until its own space was completed in 1965. The FMCT seeks to foster the growth and accessibility of live theatre in order to enrich the cultural life of its community.

Fifty Foot Penguin Theater—Fifty Foot Penguin Theater is dedicated to the production of the contemporary classics, and to the discovery of the "next" contemporary classic. FFPT focuses on the strengths of performer and text, with the goal of exceptional, not expensive, theater.

Fitzgerald Theater—Located in downtown St. Paul, the Fitzgerald Theater was built as the Schubert Theater in 1910. Today it is the home to Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion , as well as a wide variety of concerts, lectures, and productions from all over the world.

Flaneur Productions—Flaneur Productions seeks for new approaches to performance, and strives to create powerful theatre that exists in the space between idea, word, image, and gesture. The Flaneurs search, a la flaneur, for a theatre that exists between mystery and presence.

Frank Theatre—Frank Theatre is a professional theatre company which is committed to producing unique work which stretches the skills of the artists who create the work while simultaneously challenging the everyday perceptions of the audience through the exploration of ideas and issues of social, political and/or cultural concern.

Galumph Interactive Theater—Galumph Interactive Theater's mission is to create a new genre of theater that includes and responds to its audience. Using the tools of puppetry, storytelling and improvisation, Galumph creates playful and fun environments which inspire the audience's imagination, while acting as forums for serious reflection, debate, and change.

Grand Marais Playhouse—Even art can thrive in sub-zero temperatures and here's the proof. The Grand Marais Playhouse is also host to the annual Minnesota Shakespeare Festival.

Great American History Theatre—Located in St. Paul, the Great American History Theatre seeks to tell "our stories." Over the years "our" has grown to include not only Minnesotans of Scandinavian heritage but also African-American, Jewish, Hmong, Latino...

Guthrie Theater—Founded by Sir Tyrone Guthrie in 1963, the Guthrie Theater is devoted to the traditional classical repertoire and to the exploration of new works from diverse cultures and traditions. The Guthrie Theater operates two spaces; the Guthrie Mainstage and the Guthrie Lab. The Guthrie Theater sees itself as a leader in American theater with both a national and international reputation.

Hardcover Theater—Hardcover Theater is a theater company that specializes in adaptations from literature. Its mission is to educate and entertain by bringing literature to the stage in creative original productions.

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre—In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre uses the ancient tradition of puppet and mask theatre to explore issues, events and values of contemporary society. The theatre, which is internationally recognized for its artistry, is strongly grounded in the concerns of its home neighborhood, and in regional and global issues.

Illusion Theater—Illusion creates theater that illuminates the human condition by addressing the illusions, myths, and realities of our times. Illusion uses the power of theater to be a catalyst for personal and social change through its mainstage productions as well as its education and outreach presentations. Illusion is nationally known for producing original work by living, breathing artists, including the annual Fresh Ink series which features a new play every week during the summer season.

Interact Center for Visual and Performing Arts—Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts was founded to provide artists with disabilities a place to pursue and develop their art to its highest potential, and to increase their integration into the broader professional arts community.

Intermedia Arts—Intermedia Arts is a multidisciplinary art center that presents a variety of work to further understanding among people through the arts. It focuses primarily on visual arts, theater and film.

Jon Hassler Theater—Jon Hassler Theater is located in Plainview, Minnesota in the heart of the Great River Ridge country of Southeast Minnesota. An affiliate of the Rural America Arts Partnership, the Jon Hassler Theater presents a full season of professional theater productions each year, as well as a concert series.

Jungle Theater—The Jungle Theater presents an eclectic season of plays selected from classic and contemporary sources. Known for supporting and performing the works of local playwrights, the Jungle also has a reputation for dynamic set designs. The Jungle is recognized as a significant player in the economic and cultural development of the inner-city neighborhood in which it makes its home.

Lakeshore Players—Since its incorporation in 1953, Lakeshore has provided quality entertainment to thousands of Twin City residents. Located in White Bear Lake, Lakeshore is the second oldest community theater in Minnesota and one of the oldest in the United States. Even today the Lakeshore Players strive to serve the community with enriching and entertaining theatrical productions.

Margolis Brown Theater Company—With the physical actor at the center of its creative process, the Margolis-Brown company seeks to merge other media to create create large ensemble physical theater works that are rich in metaphor, grabbing an audience both emotionally and intellectually.

Mary Worth Theatre Company—Mary Worth is a dramatic laboratory dedicated to creating new works for the stage and presenting innovative stagings of classic plays. Several projects are always cooking on the stove and developed in workshops that sometimes last as long as a year.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre—Minneapolis Musical Theatre is dedicated to producing high-quality, affordable works of musical theatre which have never been, or are very rarely, seen in the Twin Cities. The MMT attempts to expand the musical theatrical experience beyond the classic standards and Broadway touring shows.

Ministry of Cultural Warfare—The primary mission of MoCW is to produce and develop original multidisciplinary theatrical works which explore universal meanings—often through comedy—in materials originating from seemingly disparate cultural and artistic conditions.

Minnesota Association of Community Theatres—An online resource for community theatres across Minnesota.

Minnesota Jewish Theatre—The Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company began as one woman's attempt to pass on her cultural heritage to the next generation. It has grown into a professional theater putting on several productions each season.

Minnesota Fringe Festival—The Minnesota Fringe Festival is the largest fringe festival in the United States, showcasing new theater, dance and visual art. Each August hundreds of performers take to the stages of Minneapolis, looking for that big break or just for a chance to try something new.

Mixed Blood Theatre—The Mixed Blood Theatre Company is a professional multi-racial theatre company promoting cultural pluralism, individual equality, and artistic excellence. Mixed Blood seeks to produce plays utilizing culture-conscious casting, to reach a non-traditional audience, and to produce educational programs on racial and cultural themes.

New Breath Productions—New Breath Productions is a musical theatre learning cooperative committed to providing students of music the opportunity to work side by side with area professionals as an extension of their musical training. This unique collaboration, created within the context of fully staged musicals, cabarets, or guest artist workshops, encourages the students to stretch themselves artistically while empowering them as performers.

NorShor Theater—The NorShor Theater,located in Old Downtown Duluth, is a multi-use space featuring three stages. The NorShor is host to music, performances, presentations and business ceremonies. The NorShor is also an independent movie theater and hosts a variety of film events and an annual local film festival. It's also home to Duluth Artists' Guild Limbo Gallery, which shows works by up-and-coming as well as internationally known area artists. The Guild, founded in 1999, strives to support the community through the arts and to make art accessible to everyone.

Old Log Theater—The Old Log originally opened as a summer stock company in 1940 in a log stable. In 1960, a new theater was built in Excelsior, and the operation became year-round. Since then its served over six million patrons.

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts—In 1980, Saint Paul resident Sally Ordway Irvine challenged her community to help her create a performing arts venue in which her dream of offering "everything from opera to the Russian circus" could be realized. She set an example by making the first donation to a fund that eventually built Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

Outward Spiral Theatre Company—Outward Spiral Theatre Company creates a welcoming artistic atmosphere that illuminates and openly celebrates gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender cultural experiences.

Page Theatre—Located on the campus of St. Mary's University of Minnesota, the Page Theatre features a mix of touring and student productions including theater, music, and dance. The Page Theatre strives to become Southeastern Minnesota's premier performing arts center, bringing artists and community together through imaginative programming, unique collaborations, a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service.

Pangea World Theater—Pangea World Theater is committed to international works, styles, and traditions that illuminate the human condition, end divisiveness and celebrate differences. It strives to bring communities across the world together through theater productions, workshops, and speakers. It views the stage as a powerful international forum and a podium for discussion. Throughout its work Pangea employs a cross-ethnic vision of tolerance and human rights through excellence in the arts.

Park Square Theatre—With its motto "Theatre As Rich As Life" Park Square Theatre seeks to enrich its community by producing and presenting exceptional live theatre that touches the heart, engages the mind, and delights the spirit.

Patrick's Cabaret—Patrick's Cabaret is committed to providing artists the opportunity to take risks, encouraging artists who try new things, and/or present works in progress. It serves a diverse range of artists, from emerging to experienced, from teenagers through seniors. The Cabaret specifically reaches out to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender artists, and artists of color.

Paul Bunyan Playhouse—The Paul Bunyan Playhouse is a non-equity professional summer stock theatre located in Bemidji, now entering its fifty-second season.

Penumbra Theatre—Penumbra's mission is to create professional productions that are artistically excellent, thought provoking, relevant, entertaining, and presented from an African American perspective.

Pigs Eye Theatre Company—The Pigs Eye Theatre Company's mission is to produce collaborative works of theatre in an accessible way in order to both entertain and educate on both sides of the stage.

Pillsbury House Theatre—A professional theatre uniquely housed within an inner-city neighborhood center, Pillsbury House Theatre is a multi-cultural company of artists. Its purpose is to engage a broad community in the art of theatre with programs and productions that provoke examination of the world around us. Through its work, Pillsbury House Theatre illuminates the differences that make each person unique and the similarities that bring people together, within an artistically engaging context that promotes understanding and leads to positive action. As a strategy of Pillsbury United Communities, an innovative leader in the social service profession, Pillsbury House Theatre upholds the tradition of the arts as part and parcel of the life of all communities.

Red Eye Theater—Red Eye is an alternative multidisciplinary arts center dedicated to the creation and presentation of new work. By providing access under the same roof to a lively sampling of creative expression, Red Eye stimulates dialogue about and increases understanding of the shared impulses, concerns and themes of artists working with new performance forms and ideas.

Renegade Comedy Theatre—Established in Duluth in 1991, Renegade is committed to staging comedy, be it silly or substantial, original or scripted. Renegade's seasons are a combination of plays by established authors like David Mamet and Gilbert & Sullivan, and original comedy revues written and performed by the group. Renegade Comedy Theatre is the only theater company north of the Twin Cities that creates original sketch comedy revues three times a year. Renegade's Web site is home not only to its comedy theatre, but also to the Tugboat Children's Theatre and the Improv Comedy Olympics.

River's Edge Playback Theatre—Tapping the power of spontaneous creativity, River's Edge Playback Theatre strives to celebrate our collective experience and, through story, to promote personal and social empowerment.

Rochester Civic Theatre—Rochester's own community theater, established in 1951.

Shakespeare and Company—Shakespeare and Company is an outdoor classical repertory theatre performing at the Outdoor Theatre Complex on the west campus of Century College, located in White Bear Lake. Our goal is to provide an environment where families can come and enjoy an informal picnic atmosphere and see performances of Shakespeare and other classical plays.

Shakespeare in the Park—Shakespeare in the Park was created in 1997 as an organization committed to producing artistically superior and accessible works of Shakespeare for a broad range of audiences in Minnesota public parks.

Sheldon Theatre—The Sheldon Theatre showcases theater, music, dance and film by local, regional, national and international artists.

Southern Theater—The Southern's mission is to help build and sustain a vibrant artistic community by supporting the Twin Cities' most creative independent performing artists and presenting them to the audience in an intimate environment that encourages artistic exploration. The theater presents mostly dance and music but it also plays home to new and touring theater works and multidisciplinary performance art.

Stages Theatre Company—Stages Theatre Company is committed to the enrichment and education of children and youth in a professional theatre environment that stimulates artistic excellence and personal growth.

Starting Gate Productions—Based in St. Paul, Starting Gate is dedicated to the individual. It strives to cultivate and nourish artists and audiences through workshops and high quality productions.

SteppingStone Theatre—SteppingStone Theatre is dedicated to developing the whole child by using educational theater programs and fully staged productions to build self esteem, confidence, and a sense of community while celebrating diversity in a supportive, noncompetitive environment.

TC Theatre and Film—TC Theatre and Film is an on-line resource for the Twin Cities. The site has a comprehensive resource directory; newsletter; and on-line classifieds section featuring audition notices, job postings and class offerings.

Teatro del Pueblo—Based in the West Side's Latino community, Teatro del Pueblo's mission as a non-profit theater company is to promote cultural pride in the Latino community, to develop and support Latino talent, to educate the community at large about Latino culture and to promote cultural diversity in the arts.

Ten Thousand Things Theater Company—The Ten Thousand Things Company strives to bring lively, intelligent theater to people with little access to the wealth of the arts. The works of Sophocles, Shakespeare, Brecht, and others are taken to homeless shelters and prisons as well as performed for the general public.

The Theater Gallery—The Theater Gallery is an interdisciplinary physical theater company whose mission is to offer highly imaginative, original theatrical productions that speak to the timeless needs & struggles of universal human experience. By combining story, movement, music and unique set designs the Theater Gallery seeks to bring the audience into a new world full of allegory and metaphor.

Theater Mu—Born of the union of Asian and American cultures, Theater Mu envisions theater as a total sensory experience merging ancient forms, traditions and stories with contemporary ones. Theater Mu aspires to transform the perspective, experience and understanding of the community and culture in which we live.

Theatre de la Jeune Lune—Founded in France in 1978 by two Parisians and a Minneapolitan, Jeune Lune settled permanently in Minneapolis in 1985 after seven years of splitting its seasons between France and the United States. Run by graduates of the Jacques LeCoq theatre school in Paris, Jeune Lune regards itself as a theatre of directness, a theatre that speaks to its audience, that listens and needs a response—a theatre of the imagination.

Theatre In The Round Players—One of the oldest theaters in the Twin Cities, Theatre in the Round is a community playhouse often mistaken as a professional stage because of its high profile and quality of production.

Theatre Limina—Theatre Limina is a company dedicated to creating dynamic theater that strives to affect the spectator. Limina , as defined by the The American Heritage Dictionary, means the threshold of a physiological or psychological response. The word limina captures the moment when one is on the edge of discovery—when one paradigm shifts into another.

Youth Performance Company—Founded in 1989, Youth Performance Company is committed to serving young artists, young audiences and the community. YPC's mission is to ignite and fuel the artistic spirit of youth by developing, empowering and enhancing young artists.
