    The East beat the West 134-128 in the 57th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics, a late addition to the East All-Stars, led the East with 28 points.

  • Coin Collector Makes Pretty Penny at Auction
    A California coin collector who auctioned off his rare penny collection — partly because he needed to pay off some real estate debt — made $10.7 million. He had spent years tracking down the rare pennies, which date back as a far as 1793.
  • Wal-Mart Picks Blu-Ray Over HD DVD
    Blu-ray scored a big win in the DVD format battle with Wal-Mart's decision to phase out high-definition DVDs. The news came after Best Buy and the online DVD rental service Netflix also decided to carry Blu-ray over rival HD.
  • Britain to Nationalize Struggling Mortgage Lender
    The British government announced on Sunday that it will nationalize the struggling mortgage lender Northern Rock. The British government rejected two takeover proposals for the lender, which ran into trouble last year following the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States.
  • Kennedy Artifacts Found in Dallas Courthouse
    Artifacts related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy have been discovered in a safe in the Dallas County courthouse. However, the most fascinating — and controversial — document found is unlikely to be what it appears to be.
  • Beef Recall Follows Animal-Abuse Scandal
    The Department of Agriculture ordered the recall of 143 million pounds of beef produced by a Southern California meat processor on Sunday. Some beef was destined for school lunch programs and low-income families.
  • McGovern's Grandson Seeks Office in Milwaukee
    Voters in Milwaukee will decide Tuesday whether the grandson of former Sen. George McGovern will become an alderman. Sam McGovern-Rowen, 32, is running in Milwaukee's 3rd District. Seven other Democrats also are running.
