Minnesota Public Radio Stories

  • Help for long term care?
Saving for care in our old age usually falls by the wayside in favor of the things we want to pay for now. A relatively little known provision in some health care bills allows people to voluntary contribute to a national fund that would pay at least $50 a day for at home nursing care for people who are disabled.9:06 a.m.
Larry Minnix: President and CEO of American Association of Housing and Services for the Aging.
Paula Span: Author of "When the Time Comes: Families with Aging Parents Share Their Struggles and Solutions." She also writes for the New York Times blog, The New Old Age.
  • 40th anniversary of Woodstock
It was billed as three days of peace, love, and music, but it turned out to be much bigger than anyone expected. Forty years after the great gathering on Max Yasgur's farm, a nation reflects on the music and the meaning of Woodstock.10:06 a.m.
Richie Havens: Singer/songwriter. He was the opening performer at the Woodstock Festival.
Pete Fornatale: Longtime New York disc jockey and author of "Back to the Garden: The Story of Woodstock." He currently hosts "Mixed Bag Radio" on WFUV.
Maurice Isserman: Professor of history at Hamilton College and the co-author of "America Divided: The Civil War of the 1960s."
