Candidate Positions on No Child Left Behind
The following positions reflect those used for each candidate in the Select A Candidate survey. Question: Do you favor or oppose the education program known as "No Child Left Behind?"

ANSWER OPTION: Education is the fundamental building block of our society and we need to make sure we are giving children an opportunity to succeed," said Bachmann. "Minnesota is a leader in education and we need to keep it that way by ensuring teachers, parents and local school board members have control over the classroom -- not bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.

ANSWER OPTION: I oppose all unfunded federal mandates, including NCLB, which force schools to do even more with fewer dollars and shift the burden to local school districts and property taxpayers. We have to either repeal NCLB or deliver the federal funding it originally promised to help schools succeed.
