United to end service to Grand Forks airport
United Airlines will end service to Grand Forks International Airport on Dec. 3.
The airport's executive director Patrick Dame said United's service began about a year ago.
"We've worked hard on getting that route off and running with a small community air service grant marketing the route," Dame said. "For us and the airport authority, it's disappointing. You never want to lose a service."
Dame said United Airlines currently schedules between one and two flights a day through the airport.

A spokesperson for United Airlines said in an emailed statement that the financial performance of flights from the Grand Forks airport didn't meet the company's expectations.
"We will contact customers currently booked on our flights between Grand Forks and Denver and offer to either re-accommodate them on other flights or provide a refund," said United's spokesperson Jennifer Dohm.
Delta and Allegiant continue to provide non-stop service to Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Orlando.
Dame said the airport is on pace to have a record year this year, with 150,000 passengers boarding at the airport, which is almost twice as many people as the airport served the year before.
