Legislative panel reviews MNsure operations

Representatives of the state's new online insurance marketplace, MNsure, will go before a legislative oversight committee on Monday in St. Paul.

Under the state law that created MNsure last session, a legislative oversight committee must review the insurance marketplace's operations at least once a year and recommend changes to the board and to the Legislature.

On Monday, 10 members of the Minnesota House and Senate will receive updates on MNsure's progress from its board chair and executive director. They are expected to discuss MNsure's budget; the status of its grants and spending; plans to explain how the public will enroll in coverage; and the progress of the information technology infrastructure development.

MNsure will go live on Oct. 1 and is expected to be the online gateway for more than a million Minnesotans to obtain health coverage.
