No charges in Minn. teen's arrow death

CHASKA, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota prosecutor says a teenage boy won't be charged in a bow-and-arrow accident that killed his 16-year-old friend last fall.
Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom says there is no evidence that the 16-year-old intended to shoot the arrow at Spencer Swanson or to injure him.
The boy had just received a compound bow and wanted to show it to Swanson last October. Swanson was riding his bicycle near his home in Chaska when the boy lost his grip on the bow string, and the blunt, tipless arrow shot about 94 feet and struck Swanson in the forehead.
Swanson died at a hospital two days later.
The boy's attorney, Marsh Halberg, says his client's family is relieved there will be no charges and hopes to eventually meet with Swanson's family.
