The Democratic National Committee's "platform drafting committee" will begin putting together their party's national political platform in Minneapolis over the next three days.
Political consultant Andy Grossman is overseeing the effort. He says that given the state of the economy, the issue of jobs will play prominently in the new platform.
"A party platform always looks forward and this election is a choice between two fundamentally different visions of the economy: How to grow our economy and how to create jobs and pay down debt and so it will certainly include sections on each of those areas," he said.
The DNC's full platform committee meets in mid-August in Detroit and will present the platform to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte in early September.
