Sexual assault in the U.S. military

There were more than 19,000 rapes or sexual assaults in all military branches in 2010, according to report from the U.S. Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office. Only 3,158 of those instances were reported.

We wanted to talk about the issue after a documentary, "The Invisible War," gained attention as it was screened at theaters nationally last month. We're also watching the widening investigation into the sexual assault scandal at Lackland Air Force Base.

What is being done to prevent sexual assaults in the military? And are reports of incidents being properly investigated? Anu Bhagwati, executive director and co-founder of the Service Women's Action Network, will join The Daily Circuit Wednesday alongside Military Rape Crisis Center Maine Director Jen Norris.
