LE SUEUR, Minn. (AP) -- State regulators have given a $30 million biofuel project in Le Sueur an environmental exemption.
The developers, Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, won't need an environmental impact statement in order to move forward with the project. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's Citizen's Board granted the exemption Tuesday.
The plant still needs air and disposal system permits. The Pioneer Press says the plant's digester will turn agricultural waste into biogas to fuel electrical generators. The plant will also produce liquid fertilizer for farmers and solid pellets for coal-fired power plants.
