A second attempt at a new online reservation system for state park campgrounds and cabins functioned without crashing.

The Department of Natural Resources' new web page and call center accepted 125 reservations, and set up accounts for 400 people.

The DNR says it will continue to launch the site in incremental steps during the coming week, only allowing reservations for prescribed periods each day through April 1.

The agency knows from experience how many reservations people make for popular summer weekends, said Bill Anderson, DNR project manager.

"The system is now designed to have the capacity for customers to make those reservations, not just on the first day but in the first hour or two of that day," Anderson said.

Comments on Facebook were mostly encouraging, with a few complaints and some suggestions on how to make the system better, according to the DNR.
