Inside an addicted brain

Neuroscientist Marc Lewis knows the power of addiction first-hand. As a former drug addict, Lewis has been dependent on a number of substances including LSD and heroin.

In his book, "Memoirs of an Addicted Brain," Lewis walks through his story of addiction through his memories and the brain science behind them.

"For most of my late teens and 20s, I tried to rewire my brain by ingesting every drug I could lay my hands on," Lewis wrote in Newsweek. "Which probably helps explain why I became a neuroscientist, studying the brain changes brought about by drugs and addiction."

Lewis joins The Daily Circuit Wednesday to talk about his book and the research behind addiction.
