Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota has named former UnitedHealth Group executive Kenneth Burdick to be its new president and CEO.
Burdick follows Patrick Geraghty who left the post to head Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida last September. Burdick's previous positions include heading UnitedHealth Group's commercial insurance business, CEO of UnitedHealth Group's Medicare company and stints at Travelers Companies and CIGNA.
Most recently, he served as a senior vice president of Maryland-based Coventry Health Care, running their Medicaid and Behavioral Health businesses, which serve all 50 states. Burdick is also an attorney.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the largest commercial health insurer in Minnesota.
