The sounds of the Minnesota Orchestra are conducted by longtime music director Stanislaw Skrowaczewski.
Skrowaczewski has been associated with the Minnesota Orchestra for over 50 years, having lead the orchestra for 19 years and taking them from Northrup Hall to Orchestra Hall, and from the Minneapolis Symphony to the Minnesota Orchestra. He is still the conductor laureate of the orchestra, and has lived in Minnesota ever since his arrival here in 1960.
There's a new biography out on Skrowaczewski, called "Seeking the Infinite," by author Frederick Harris, who will appear with Skrowaczewski at an event 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Barnes and Noble on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.
Harris joins Minnesota Public Radio to discuss the man who many simply call, Stan.
