More than $6 million in federal health care funds will come to Minnesota after all. The money was at the heart of a political skirmish between Gov. Mark Dayton and State Sen. David Hann, R-Eden Prairie.
About two weeks ago, the governor accused Hann of severely harming thousands of Minnesota children with cancer by holding up the federal grant money. Hann, a member of the Legislative Advisory Commission had asked to review some $20 million in health care grants funding a range of programs.
After several revisions the final amount in question was $6 million.
When the Legislative Advisory Commission met last week, the panel did not seek further review of the grants, allowing them to go through. This came after Hann, who also chairs the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, grilled Dayton Administration officials about the accuracy of the governor's accusations.
