Ramsey county declines to charge Pulkrabek for felony assault

Ramsey County has decided not to charge Washington county commissioner Bill Pulkrabek with felony domestic assault.

Pulkrabek was arrested a week ago on suspicion of felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor fifth degree assault.

In the written statement released late Monday afternoon, Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said even though there wasn't enough evidence for a felony charge, "our prosecutors believe that a city attorney should consider bringing a misdemeanor charge in this case, and we have been informed that will happen."

The Ramsey county attorney's office said the county doesn't have the jurisdiction to bring the misdemeanor charge against Pulkrabek.

Ramsey county investigated the charges against Pulkrabek at the request of Washington County.
