The Minnesota State Patrol arrested 30 people around the state for driving drunk on New Year's Eve.
Seventeen of the arrests were in the Twin Cities metro area.
Lt. Eric Roeske said that's not a big increase over the number of people that would usually be cited on a Friday night.
"The drunken driving arrests were about what we would normally see on a busy typical weekend, maybe a slight increase," Roeske said. "We'd hope that people made good decisions last night and either got designated drivers, or if weather conditions were poor decided to not venture out."
Roeske said the number of accidents on Minnesota roadways on New Year's Eve was higher than normal, but no fatalities were reported. The state patrol responded to 183 crashes around the state, 34 resulted in injuries.
