Writers from all over the country gather in Sauk Center this coming weekend for the annual Sinclair Lewis conference.

On Friday evening, several singer-songwriters will join the celebration. One of them is Meg Hutchinson, whose latest album, "The Living Side," displays both her musical dexterity and her way with words.

She told MPR News' Euan Kerr it makes perfect sense to her that the musicians are at the writers' conference, particularly as she started off as a poet.

Meg Hutchinson will join John Gorka, Storyhill's John Hermanson and Mother Banjo at the 20th Sinclair Lewis Writers Conference at the Sauk Center High School on Friday evening.

Hutchinson will also play at Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota, Minn. on Sunday at 7 p.m.
