Students at colleges and universities around Minnesota move into the dorms this weekend, and for some, that first taste of freedom presents an irresistible opportunity to party.

Nationally, more than 1,400 students die every year in alcohol-related incidents, and hundreds of thousands are injured or sexually assaulted.

MPR's Phil Picardi spoke with Toben Nelson, who's studied what colleges are doing to curb drinking by their student bodies. He's a professor in the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health.
