St. Paul, Minn. — Gov. Pawlenty has outlined spending cuts he wants in the current fiscal year budget to close a $1.2 billion deficit.
The governor's proposal attempts to preserve K-12 funding, but cuts health care and local government grants. His budget also cuts taxes for businesses.
Legislators now have to figure out what they would do differently or the same to eliminate a huge deficit.
