Minneapolis city officials Friday afternoon agreed to pay $65,000 to settle a discrimination lawsuit.
In 2006, police officers pulled over Nancy Johnson and her fiance in north Minneapolis. The police report says Johnson jumped on an officer as he struggled to subdue Johnson's fiance. The couple was arrested and each charged with obstruction.
Johnson's lawyer, Stephen Smith, said video from a surveillance camera contradicted the officers' report. It showed that Johnson stayed in the car and didn't join the struggle.
"It is rare that I have the opportunity to contrast so starkly what's written in a police report versus what you can see with your own eyes," Smith said.
A Minneapolis police spokesman declined to comment, saying he hasn't seen the video or the complaint.
