Vaccine shortage prompts U of M to cancel flu clinics

The shortage of seasonal flu vaccine has prompted the University of Minnesota's Boynton Health Service to cancel two more walk-in flu clinics.
The health service says clinics scheduled for Wednesday and Oct. 14 have been canceled. However, officials haven't canceled the clinic scheduled for Oct. 21.
Health service director Dr. Edward Ehlinger says the group was told by its distributor more than a week ago that it would soon get about 14,000 doses.
He says that distributor called back a few days ago to say Boynton would still get its full shipment, but it could not longer say when.
Last month Boynton was also forced to postpone two planned flu-shot clinics on the Twin Cities campus, citing delays in seasonal vaccine shipments.
