Minn. girl bitten by pit bull

An 11-year-old girl is recovering after a pit bull attacked her near Richmond.

Police Chief Phil Jones says Daija Hirman was bitten several times in the right arm and abdomen. She suffered multiple puncture wounds and torn flesh from the attack.

The girl's family had been watching the pit bull when it attacked her Tuesday. She was home with her two 13-year-old brothers at the time. One of the brothers eventually got the dog inside the house.

Police could not get records of whether the dog had its shots and could not reach the dog's owner. The dog was euthanized and will be tested for rabies.

Officers don't know what led to the attack.
