Cole Sarar is a Twin Cities spoken word artist. She also manages the Twin Cities spoken word blog and calendar, minnesotamicrophone.com. Cole can't wait for "The Big Slam," a poetry slam competition featuring national teams from Minneapolis and St. Paul as well as notable Minnesota slam poets from past teams. The Big Slam happens Sunday, July 12, at 7 p.m. at Pepito's Parkway Theater in Minneapolis.

You're sure to find Kate at the Pink Hobo Gallery In Nordeast, Minneapolis on Saturday, July 11, for the opening of "The Art Of Yo Gabba Gabba." The exhibit features the sketches, the drawings and video that make Nick Jr.'s "Yo Gabba Gabba" such a zany, psychedelic TV show for kids.

Suzy Lee — Suzy Lee is a journalism student at the "U" and will be the performance curator for the Center for Hmong Arts and Talent's summer arts festival.

Suzy Lee is a journalism student at the U of M and will be the performance curator for the Center for Hmong Arts and Talent's summer arts festival. Suzy is a longtime supporter of the Twin Cities-based progressive metal band, After the Burial. She'll be planting herself in the Mainroom at First Avenue July 9, when After the Burial joins nine other revered bands from the national metal scene for "Summer Slaughter." The show starts at 1 p.m. and goes into the evening. Suzy expects After the Burial will take the stage some time near the end, but before the headlining band.
