Eric Bibb performs in the Radio Heartland studio
by Dale Connelly, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Eric Bibb has a unique background. He was born in the U.S., but has lived out of the country for nearly two decades, calling Helsinki, Finland his home now. So he brings a fresh perspective to blues music and his latest album, "Get Onboard."
Bibb is from a musical family. His father Leon Bibb was a big part of the folk scene in New York in the 1960s. He's the nephew of John Lewis of the Modern Jazz Quartet, and godson of the legendary Paul Robeson.
His latest album is "Get Onboard," and it features Bibb's signature blues sound but with a positive message.
Songs performed: "Pockets," "Goin' Down Slow," and "River Blues."
