The property tax program Green Acres has been largely restored by the Legislature, and Gov. Pawlenty is expected to sign the changes into law.
Last year the Legislature significantly restricted the program that protects farmers from rising property taxes.
Many farmers were up in arms over the changes.
Scott County farmer Heidi Morlock says most of the program has been restored.
"Though I wanted a full repeal, we didn't get that, but this in theory will address a lot of our concerns," she said. "I've got CRP land and that will remain in the program."
"My mom owns the farm and wants to transfer the land to me, so we can do that without a penalty. I've got wetlands, I've got windbreaks, I've got wood lots that are part of my working farm and will be back in the program."
The new rules say farmers will only be allowed to have half of their land in conservation, and they will have to develop a conservation plan. The rules take effect in 2013.
