A new book chronicles how people reacted to Abraham Lincoln's death, and the surprising ways his legacy influenced politics and culture in the century after his assassination.

He is cofounder of the Meserve Kunhardt Foundation, a collection of 19th and 20th century photographs, which has received honors from the National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
