(AP) - Gov. Tim Pawlenty says he talked with both the president and prime minister of Israel during a trade mission there.
Pawlenty is wrapping up the trip and spoke with Minnesota reporters by phone from Tel Aviv.
The governor says he and Israeli President Shimon Peres chatted about renewable energy on the sidelines of an economic conference where they both gave speeches.
Pawlenty says he and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert talked about the troubled U.S. auto industry and the development of electric cars during a 45-minute meeting in Olmert's office.
The trade mission has focused on energy issues, including electric cars and biofuels in development.
Pawlenty returns to Minnesota late Tuesday.
