St. Paul, Minn. — House Minority Leader Marty Seifert said he'll run for his leadership position again.

Seifert's Republican caucus lost two seats in last week's election, and Seifert had indicated he might not run for the minority leader post again.

But the Marshall Republican said he received overwhelming support from members of his caucus and state GOP leaders.

Seifert said Republicans need to do some rebuilding around the state, and reach out to young voters, to gain seats in the next election.

"So we're going to have to do some soul searching with the party - the caucus is obviously different than the party - so we've gotta get the act together to make sure that we're running the most electable people. And that includes reaching out to some new people," Seifert said.

House Republicans meet Saturday in Oakdale to elect their leadership. House Democrats have already re-elected their top leaders - Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Majority Leader Tony Sertich.
