New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be in Minneapolis later this month to help give a financial boost to the Independence Party of Minnesota.
Bloomberg will attend a fundraising breakfast July 25 and then deliver a policy speech. Both events are scheduled for the Nicollet Island Pavilion.
Bloomberg is no longer considering an independent presidential bid this year. But Craig Swaggert, chairman of the Independence Party of Minnesota, says his views are very much in line with state party members.
"Some important issues for him are the environment, infrastructure and transportation, health care costs and education. And those are all four things that we strongly support," Swaggert said.
Swaggert said public infrastructure funding will be the focus of Bloomberg's policy speech during the Minneapolis visit.
