City officials in Woodbury are on the lookout for residents who use excessive amounts of water.

Starting next month, the city will crack down on water wasters by auditing them. Officials will target the residents using the most water and ask them why they are so wasteful.

Then the city will offer a free visit by a water conservation expert.

The city raised water rates last year so that the heaviest users would pay five times more per gallon than those using small amounts.

But still, city officials were able to find a house that used 471,000 gallons of water last summer, five times more than the average Woodbury home.
