The Minnesota Department of Human Services says a computer error caused the agency last month to mail over 15,000 checks to incorrect addresses.
Officials says the checks, totaling over $3.7 million, were intended for vendors and clients who receive cash and food assistance through a number of public assistance programs.
DHS says it has corrected the computer programming error, reissued checks mailed to incorrect addresses, and stopped payment on all outstanding checks.
