U of M doctors hear actor Charles Keating's commentary on aging
St. Paul, Minn. — A new show on aging opens at The Guthrie Theater Tuesday. It's called "I and I: The Sense of Self." It's a one-man show starring British actor Charles Keating. Keating bases the one-act on poems, monologues and essays about growing old.
The premiere reading was for a group of medical professionals who were attending a geriatrics conference at the University of Minnesota. Keating says "I and I: A Sense of Self" takes a new look at aging and the wisdom that comes with it.
Keating is best known for his role on the British television series "Brideshead Revisited" and the American soap opera "Another World." Before appearing on television, he was with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Keating says the idea for the show came from the University of Minnesota's Dr. Jon Hallberg, who is also a regular commentator on Minnesota Public Radio.
Keating spoke with MPR's Cathy Wurzer.
