Bernhard Scully's new position as principal horn with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra is something of a homecoming for the musician.
Scully was born in St. Paul and even though his family moved away when he was only 1, he was back in town for the last two years of high school.
Scully joined the SPCO in September after three whirlwind years with the Canadian Brass. He says his tenure with the acclaimed brass ensemble was a dream job, but he was on the road for most of the time, playing concerts around the world.
With the arrival of a new baby girl, Scully says he was ready to spend more time at home. He says he's thrilled to move from one dream job to another.
Scully recently stopped by Minnesota Public Radio's Maude Moon Weyerhaeuser studio with pianist Skip James. He spoke with host John Birge and played some horn favorites.
