State Patrol

Coordinating traffic detours in partnership with MnDOT and continue to secure perimeter of the bridge area. The State Patrol Air Division is providing aerial photos of the scene to assist MnDOT. The photos will help MnDOT's environmental services team create a plan of attack for responders to best address potential contamination or debris issues. Troopers are also mapping the scene to establish a diagram of the scene.

MnDOT

Working on a long-term detour plan which will be communicated at www.511mn.org or at the 511 information line. MnDOT inspectors are inspecting other bridges as a precautionary activity.

Coordinating debris and contamination issues. MPCA continues monitoring for contamination/other spills along the Mississippi River. MPCA is also assisting with the plan to address the materials in the rail cars that were under the bridge. Officials report the material enclosed in the cars is believed to be solid and non-hazardous.

The Minnesota Department of Health's "Minnesota Responds" medical professional database was accessed by local Medical Reserve Corps -- a subsection of the Citizen Corps -- to recruit credible health counseling professionals to volunteer at the Family Assistance Center at the Minneapolis Holiday Inn Metrodome.

Chaplin Service are assisting, as well as the University of Minnesota, Hennepin County, and Scott County Medical Reserves Corps are providing crisis counseling through today.
