St. Paul, Minn. — The State Government Budget Division of the Senate's Finance Committee met on Wednesday to hear a bill that proposes to restore and expand the Minnesota State Capitol building.
Cass Gilbert designed the Capitol more than 100 years ago. And, while many of the publicly-viewed spaces appear to have aged well, there are some areas that are continually exposed to moisture, mold and the effects of time.
To get a sense of scope for the proposed restoration project, MPR All Things Considered's Tom Crann took a tour of some of the hidden sights at the Capitol with Michael Bjornberg, the principal project manager for the Minnesota State Capitol restoration project at Hammel, Green and Abrahamson.
