Keith Ellison has garnered a fair amount of public attention since he was elected to Congress in Minnesota's 5th District in November 2006. Ellison, a DFLer, is the state's first black congressman, and the first and only Muslim in Congress.

Ellison spoke Thursday night at his alma mater, the University of Minnesota Law School, about his path from a childhood in Detroit to the Minnesota Legislature, and finally to Washington D.C.
