St. Paul, Minn. — About 41 percent of marriages in the U.S. end in divorce. That statistic has been on the decline since the late 1970s, but it's still a substantial number.
Photographer Robert Fass' parents were married 47 years, more indicative of their generation.
The portraits Fass made of them back in 1997 provided him with the inspriation for a larger project, a book of photos called, "As Long As We Both Shall Live: Long-Married Couples in America." Fass talked with MPR's Tom Crann.
