The Insight Racing team from North Carolina, which participated in the last two DARPA Grand Challenge events, is showing off its new Lotus vehicle, dubbed Lone Wolf, in Maple Grove today. The car is set to compete in the DARPA Urban Challenge later this year. The new race will test how well driverless vehicles perform in an urban setting, as opposed to the desert environment of the first two races.
The demo is taking place at the headquarters of Maple Grove's Comtrol, which is providing sensor information processing technology to the Insight team. Another Minnesota company, SICK, is also part of the team.
