Today is Member Appreciation Open House day at Minnesota Public Radio's studios in St. Paul, Bemidji and Rochester. Find out more about the event at our open house information page.
If you can make it to the St. Paul open house at 480 Cedar Street, ask to see the massive Radio Heartland campus, a two cubicle expanse on the 4th floor where the 1.5 Heartland employees enjoy state-of-the-art support in a luxurious setting. And the amenities! We have trash cans AND recycling containers. Right there at the desk! And Mike Pengra just showed me where he keeps the Scotch tape. This is the second time in less than a week he had to point it out because I forgot what he said the first time. But now I have memorized the location, and I can show you too, if you ask.
In fact, be one of the first people to mention that you read about the open house on Trial Balloon, and I'll give you one of the few remaining homeless objects on the freshly tidied desktop. It has never been this clean!
Yes, I'll be there and so will JASPER, the listener-named computer who runs things at Radio Heartland 24 hours each and every day.
More than that, we'll have tons of real radio people hanging around - names you know and not a single one of them looks the way you expect them to look. It's eerie to hear a familiar voice coming out of a stranger's face. Bring the kids. It'll freak them out.
Also - free chocolate chip cookies, coffee and parking. All the necessities of modern life in one location.
Come say hello between 11 am and 3 pm at our Member Appreciation Open House!
