Tonight on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News, we'll spend the first hour blowing out candles on the many musical birthday cakes of August. How many?
It's a remarkable collection that includes Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Eliza Gilkyson, Rufus Wainwright, James Taylor, Mark O'Connor and Cesaria Evora.

In hour two, Tina Fabrique, star of the Guthrie Theater's production of "Ella", will talk about the show's namesake, Ella Fitzgerald, and the three years she has spent bringing this jazz legend to life on stages all around the USA. What are the demands of portraying "The First Lady of Song" - an artist who was universally praised by her peers, and who serves as an inspiration for vocalists of all stripes? Find out why Tina Fabrique is not intimidated, tonight on Radio Heartland.

Mike and Dale-- who knew it's so simple to hear any hour of a show we've missed! I finally have a chance to listen to that 8:00 hour from Thursday's show, including the Charlie the Cat songs. Thanks so much!

you can do an hour or several of Ella any time, she was magic; i was able to see her at the old bloomington summerfest they did in the mid 80's, she had to sit, and it was very hot, but she was wonderful
thanx
